This is a diverse city, with people of all genetics, from all over the world, with different thoughts and philosophies. And they’re all nice. Or maybe they’re just nice to me.
I love my own privacy and I seldom “sniper” shoot people. I usually ask, or at least work from a moment of mutual recognition, before I take a picture. But I don’t approach a lot of people, out of my own insecurities and also out of an unwillingness to disturb the water of someone’s day. People want to be witnessed, not necessarily recognized.
That said, I’ve only been turned down twice, and both times it was a very gentle, polite exchange.
So, most of these images were shot with consent and awareness, and a sense of fun. Even people that looked angry were goofing around. In most cases I’ve not seen these people again (if I really get to know people they wind up in Portraits).
The sniper shots… well, sometimes there’s just a good picture and one has to snatch it.
